Should you Get Hair Extensions?

Hair extensions are basically partial wigs that you attach to the back of your head so that it looks like you have much longer hair than you actually do. You may have seen actresses wear them all the time in some movies. Good hair extensions look natural, and it’s almost impossible to tell where your hair ends and the extension begins. Bad hair extensions stand out like a sore thumb. You can easily spot them because they don’t look like natural hair, nor do they match your hair’s color. In short, they look cheap and horrible!

So what can you do? Go to your hairstylist for hair extensions. In most cases, your stylist will be able to help you select the extensions and add them in. The easiest solution here is to get clip in extensions. They’re just what they sound like—this synthetic hair is attached to a clip, and all you have to do is clip it on. However, while the hair does look natural and can be dyed to match your hair perfectly, the clip may show.

A hair weave is braided into the back of your hair with a cornrow. If you don’t look great in a cornrow, this is obviously not going to work for you. However, there is no clip, plus the hair does look really good. If you have fine hair, this isn’t really an option. You also have to make sure the hair is good quality and does look right with your natural hair.

Fusion extensions are added to your hair using an adhesive. This means there’s nothing extra being used to hold the hair in, so it’s really hard to tell where your hair extensions start. There’s very little damage to your hair because the adhesive is gentle and, usually, all-natural. The extensions can last for as long as six months, too. However, it does take a lot longer to do this type of extension, so it’s the most expensive.
