Spa Goers Want Natural, Not Name-Brand
12/23/2014

Years ago, many people expected to see brand name products in spas no matter where they were in the world. You’d see logos and brand names that you’d find in salons at home and that you could buy yourself.

Why? There were a few different reasons. Some spas thought people wanted the familiar. They would want to know that they could go purchase the same products that were being used. Others wanted to make sure no one had any questions of health or that there were no allergic reactions from any of their customers. Some spa owners believed the marketing pitches these manufacturers put out and did believe that the products were superior to traditional methods.

Today, however, this is quite different. Customers have begun demanding that spas use only all natural products and ingredients. They may decide not to return to a spa that uses only manufactured brand-name products, or they may let it known that they only want natural or local products used in their treatments. Spas that continue using only name-brand products may find fewer people coming to them.

One thing these local, traditional treatments do is create a sense of the out-of-the-ordinary. People go to a spa for this amazing treatment, not to learn about what products they can buy and use at home. The indigenous products used in these places have a sense of the exotic.

Just make sure it’s not too exotic for you—if you have any allergic reactions, be certain to speak up and let the spa know. You should also be certain to voice any questions or concerns you may have, especially if you know you have allergic reactions to some ingredients. The spa employees should be more than willing to talk to you about what ingredients and natural remedies they’re using.
