Staying on Your Stylist’s Good Side
2/8/2015

Your hairstylist is someone you may have a relationship with for years.  You certainly don’t want to get on their bad side since you’re putting your hair in their hands.  If a stylist doesn’t really like you, you’re not going to get that great of service.  No, they probably won’t give you a bad cut since that could mean you’ll let everyone know they’re a bad stylist, but they may not offer quite as many perks as you might otherwise get.  Here are a few ways of staying on your stylist’s good side.

Show up for appointments on time.  If you’re late, it means the stylist is going to have to either rush through your appointment or will have to push back everyone else.  That’s going to upset every other customer who has an appointment that day.  You’re not just inconveniencing the stylist but also every one of those people.  Even if you tip big, the rest of the appointments may not because they’ll think the stylist is the one who isn’t keeping to the schedule.  You’ll have cost the stylist money, and that’s going to be very upsetting.

Not cancelling 24 hours in advance.  If you simply don’t show up or cancel at the last minute, you’ve also potentially cost the stylist money.  If you give them as much notice as you can, they can fit someone else in.  If you don’t, the only way they can fill your appointment is with a walk-in, and there’s a chance no one will come in without an appointment that day.  So be courteous and let them know if you can’t make it.

Not tipping is sure to give your stylist a low opinion of you.  This is especially true if they’ve done a lot of work on your hair and have made you look amazing.  Give them a little extra – they’ve earned it!
