What to Take to a Day Spa
1/14/2015

Are you planning a trip to a day spa? If so, you’re probably already anticipating what services you’ll get and how great it will feel to have all that tension wiped away. But before you leave, you may wonder if you need to take much of anything with you. In some cases, the spa may tell you what you’ll need, but that’s not always the case. Here’s a quick list of a few things you’ll want to take to the spa with you.

You don’t need to worry about dressing up, but you may want to take a change of clothes with you. The spa should provide a robe and slippers, but after you’ve had a full body massage, facial, and seaweed wrap, you may feel too clean to put on the clothes you wore that morning.

Most day spas will serve a light lunch and may have snacks available, but if you frequently have low blood sugar or need to take a medication with food at a certain time, you may want to take a small snack. Some spas do have a small café or even a vending machine available, but it’s best not to leave anything to chance.

If you’re having a facial or other treatment for the skin on your face, don’t wear makeup to the spa or bring makeup remover and clean your face before the treatment. While the treatment will most likely remove the makeup anyway, it may do so instead of getting at the grime and dead skin cells that it’s supposed to be affecting.

Some treatments are applied and then left on for a short length of time. Spas usually have magazines or TVs available so guests don’t get bored during this time, but you can always bring your favorite book or other distraction. You might leave the cell phone behind, though—the point of a day spa is to leave the real world behind for a bit, so unless you worry about an emergency, you don’t have keep your phone with you.
