Working with Curly and Frizzy Hair
3/7/2015

If you have curly or frizzy hair, you know just how crazy it can be. Sometimes it seems like there’s just nothing you can do with it, and you wish with all your heart for straight hair. Of course, people with straight hair often wish for your curls, and hairstylists will tell you that both types of hair have their pros and cons. One isn’t better than the other, but they are different, and you have to know how to take care of your type of hair. Here are a few things you should know about having curly or frizzy hair.

For those with curly hair, there are some shampoos that are specially formulated for eliminating excess frizz and restoring some of the bounciness to tired curls. You definitely need a nourishing shampoo that will help restore natural oils to your hair. If you don’t, your hair may dry out fairly quickly, especially if you try to control it with products.

For those who are dealing with frizz, you’re going to need something that will smooth out the hair and moisturize it. Frizz is most often caused by humidity, heat damage, and dry hair. It can make your curls feel very coarse, too. That’s why you also need to be sure to moisturize frizzy hair. It will help keep the hair soft and under control. Look for products with keratin proteins and argan oils.

Also keep an eye out for products that are heat-activated. There are special shampoos that you use and then, after you shower, you blow dry. The heat activates the special ingredients in the product, which then helps to sooth away frizzy hair. These products also help protect your hair form the high heat of the blow drier so you can blow dry your hair without worrying about causing more damage.
