Benefits of Getting a Seaweed Wrap
1/2/2015

If you’ve seen seaweed washed up on the beach, you probably want nothing to do with it. However, the seaweed used at spas for seaweed wraps is nothing like that—in fact, you’re not actually wrapped up in seaweed at all. While some people still may not want to have anything to do with seaweed, there are actually a number of different benefits to it.

A seaweed wrap uses more than just seaweed—most treatments also use essential oils and other skin care products. First, the seaweed is soaked in warm water and combined with clay and other ingredients to make a paste. Then the attendant will apply this paste to your entire body using a brush. You’ll then be wrapped up in a warm blanket to help the skin absorb the seaweed mixture. That’s all there is to it—while the name suggests you’re getting wrapped up in pieces of seaweed, you’re actually not.

One of the best benefits from a seaweed wrap is that it helps remove toxins from the body. The warm blanket and paste help to open up the pores, allowing you to sweat out a lot of impurities and toxins. The heat helps pull these toxins to the surface, and they are then washed away at the end of the wrap.

The paste and the sweating also helps to loosen dead skin cells. When the wrap is washed off at the end of the treatment, the dead skin is also washed off. At the same time, the body absorbs many of the vitamins, proteins, lipids, and minerals found in the seaweed paste. This helps moisturize and renew skin. The antioxidants, Vitamin A, and fatty acids help the skin regain some of its elasticity, which helps reduce wrinkles. They also improve the blood flow to the skin, which helps to repair any damaged skin cells and firm up the skin.

At the end of a seaweed wrap, your skin will feel healthy, look younger, and positively glow!
