Department Store Spas
12/30/2014

When people think of spas, they often think of magical destinations located away from civilization, but today, that’s no longer the case. In fact, some spas are located in strip malls or even in department stores. These new types of spas offer the working professional the chance to relax and feel pampered without spending the time or the money to go to a destination spa.

But these aren’t the quick massage or other type of treatment you might find in the corner of a salon. Some salons do offer massages, and some do call themselves spas because of it, but the focus there is on hair and nails. However, department store spas and the like offer much more. They often have the same type of relaxing, calm atmosphere you’d find at a destination spa, and they focus on relaxation and skin care exclusively.

When you enter one of these spas, you’ll be given your own private room where you can change into a comfortable robe, listen to music, and simply unwind. Many even offer very healthy and nutritious beverages and snacks while waiting for the massage or other skin treatment to begin. These spas offer many of the same types of treatments you’d find elsewhere, but they’re often done in an a la carte style. Customers select what they want as needed so they don’t have to pay a lot of money or spend a lot of time getting treatments they don’t really want. This isn’t an all-inclusive spa, although many do offer packages similar to what you would get at a day spa if you have the time and money.

This new type of spa is perfect for those who don’t have a lot of time yet still want to relax and have their skin revitalized. They may sound cheap or not as high quality, but department store spas are just as great as traditional ones.
