Doing a Detox
2/10/2015

Are you thinking about doing a detox? Some people actually go to the spa for a week or so in order to do a full detox with the help of a professional staff. While not all spas do detoxes or long detoxes—a day spa usually won’t—there are a number of these facilities that do.

What does doing a detox at a spa consist of? The most important part of a detox is flushing your body of toxins. This means that your diet is going to be very different while on a detox. Most people eat very little food. This can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing, which is why doing a detox at a spa is a great idea. You’ll have all the support and knowledge of the nutritionists and other experts there at the spa to help you through your detox.

Some detox drinking mainly water, but that means you won’t be getting very many calories, vitamins, or minerals. Instead, a juice detox is often recommended because you can create juices with a lot of energy in them. There are specific recipes for juice detoxes that make use of a lot of fiber and other ingredients that help the body flush itself out.

Other detoxes make use of supplements like the acai berry. They provide a lot of different minerals and vitamins, so the juice can replace solid foods. With just a liquid diet, the body is able to more easily pass waste.

What will you get from doing a detox? There are a few different reasons why it’s a great idea. You’ll get all these toxins out of your system, which will in turn give you more energy and may help you fight off diseases more easily. These toxins often amass in large clumps, too, so getting rid of them can actually result in a small weight loss.
