Getting the Best Sleep You Can Get
12/22/2014

Did you know that it’s estimated that about 70 million people in the U.S. alone have some kind of sleep problem? By not getting enough rest, we leave our bodies without the energy they need to function. Without sleep, we’re more prone to sickness and disease, too. That’s why a number of spas and salons have included different options for helping us relax and sleep better.

To help people relax and sleep better, some spas now offer sleep massages later in the evening. These massages are designed to help put the patient into a deeply relaxing state. Another option is a nighttime facial that not only relaxing the patient but also helps the skin on the face rejuvenate and repair itself during the night.

If you’ve just gotten off a long flight, you may be experiencing a little bit of jet lag. A few spas located in hotels or near international airports are now offering specific massages and other types of sleep therapy aimed at helping travelers relax and get their internal clocks up to speed. Some of these packages include massages, bathes, and things like foot rubs and soaks.

There are a few spas that have even created nap therapy rooms. These rooms feature specific music and aromatherapy mixtures that are designed to help stimulate deep, relaxing sleep. Patients pay for a specific amount of nap time, then lie down on the incredibly comfortable bed and take a nap. It may sound crazy, but people have walked out of these sleep chambers saying that they slept better there than they had in years.

Is it worth paying to take a nap? If you haven’t been getting a good night’s sleep, it certainly can be. Without good, restful sleep, the body begins to fall apart. Don’t let that happen to you. Take a good nape—even if you have to escape to a spa to do it.
