Keep Your Skin Healthy

Having healthy skin is important. When our skin becomes unhealthy, our body becomes compromised, allowing bacteria and viruses inside. There are many simple little things you can do to keep your skin healthy. Here are a few of them.

Don’t smoke or stop smoking now. Smoking makes the skin appear older and can cause decreased blood flow. It can also damage the body in many other ways, so it’s best to simply put the cigarettes down and move on. You’ll also save some money.

Keep out of the sun or wear sunscreen. While the skin does need a little sunlight to help make Vitamin D, too much sun can lead to age spots, wrinkles, and even skin cancer. If you’re going to be outdoors for long periods of time, wear sunscreen or stay in the shade.

Don’t use strong soaps that can strip away essential oils. When scrubbing, don’t press down hard or use rough washcloths. You don’t want the skin to become red and irritated during a shower. Also avoid being under hot water for longer than normal. That’s because these long, hot showers and baths can also remove essential oils from the skin. Finally, don’t forget to moisturize!

Be sure to eat right. The skin needs a wide variety of different vitamins and minerals in order to keep healthy. Eat a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, and lean protein. It’s possible that sugars, especially those found in candy, can lead to acne, so you may want to avoid eating a lot of sweets.

Don’t stress out. Stress may also lead to acne breakouts and other skin issues, not to mention other health problems. Do your best to manage stress by taking time out of every day to relax. If you feel really stressed, try to find time to go to a day spa and relax. Pamper your skin and it will shine with a healthy glow!
