Massage from Head to Toe

Getting a massage can be great, but when you go into a day spa to ask for one, do you know where you want massaged? Some people think massages are only for the back, but while a back rub can be relaxing, there are many other types of massages you can get. Some of them may even be more relaxing than you think.

Many spas offer foot massages. Those who spend all day on their feet or put their feet through a lot will love this. Dancers, cashiers, construction workers, and others who stand a lot may find that their feet are swollen at the end of the day. A good foot massage will help with the pain, improve circulation, prevent foot/ankle injury, and can even help decrease the pain from migraines and headaches.

Having your legs massaged can also be very nice for those who do a lot of standing, walking, or running. Sports players often need this because their leg muscles can get very knotted up after a competition.

On the opposite end of your body, you can have a really nice head massage. A head massage can feel very relaxing, and it can also help with headaches. The pressing and kneading of the scalp can relieve tension, but it can also actually help stimulate hair growth. By increasing the blood flow to the roots of your hair, you can get your hair to grow faster or get new hair to grow.

Hand massages can also be very nice. Just like massaging certain parts of the feet can trigger relief elsewhere, the hand has a number of trigger points that can help you relax and reduce tension in other parts of your body. This type of massage, called distal therapy, is often done during acupressure sessions. It can help bring relief for toothaches, sprained muscles, and more.
