Men-Only Salons

Men-only salons—aren’t those simply barber shops? While some people might think the idea of a male-only salon is a little too metrosexual for them, there are actually a lot of guys who go to these salons. While many salons are open to everyone, the clientele is certainly skewed towards women. But there is a market for salons that cater exclusively to men.

The men who visit these salons aren’t looking for just a quick haircut. For that, they would go to a barber shop. Instead, they’re willing to pay for extras like coloring or a nice head massage. For older men, these salons offer assistance with covering up the first appearance of grey hairs. Some offer shaves and other such services along with a haircut, just like old-style barbers used to do.

The atmosphere at one of these male-only salons is also very different. While there are magazines lying about for men to read, some also have TVs set to sports stations or to movies. Some even have video game consoles set up for men to play while waiting for their hair to dry.

While some men may never be comfortable going to one of these salons or paying the higher price they ask, others love them. Part of this is because of the service. The men and women who work at these salons focus solely on men’s hair styles. At other places, the stylists focus more on women’s hair. Men’s hair, after all, is usually considered much simpler to style. But that’s not exactly true. Men can have a number of different styles, and the stylists who only style men’s hair are often much better at it than others.

If you’re a man, you may want to consider one of these salons next time you need your hair cut. Yes, it will cost a little more, but you’ll get pampered and get a better cut out of it.
