Pro Tips for Going to a Spa
1/16/2015

Are you thinking about heading out to a day spa for a nice, relaxing time? However, if it’s your first time going to a spa, you may not know exactly what to expect or how to set up your spa day. Here are some tips that will make the entire process easier.

Book your treatments ahead of time. Most spas have an online reservation system. Don’t just book your spa day, book everything you want. If you want to schedule your massages and such until you arrive, you may find that they’re booked full. Scheduling everything ahead of time guarantees you get the spa day you’ve been dreaming of.

Another scheduling tip is to arrive 30 to 45 minutes early. That way you’ve got plenty of time to get checked in and look around a little bit before your first scheduled treatment. Some spas recommend going to the sauna or steam room before your first treatment or take some time to explore the spa. Remember that if you’re not on time for your treatment, someone else may get your spot.

You’ll be given a secure locker to keep your clothing and other possessions in, but it’s always best to leave the jewelry and other unnecessary things at home just so you don’t have to keep up with them. You will be provided a robe and slippers, but you can bring a change of clothing if you want. Most spas are smoke-free environments, so leave the cigarettes at home.

Remember if you have to cancel to do so as soon as you know you’ll be unable to make the date. Some spas do require you to give them at least 24 hours’ notice in order to get a refund. Make certain you understand the spa’s cancelation policy before you book.
