Selecting your Spa Options 1/30/2015
When you book your appointment at a day spa, you’ll most often do more than just select the date. You will probably be asked if you want to book any appointments. The answer to this needs to be yes! Why? Because the different massages, facial masque treatments, and other activities tend to fill up quickly, especially the specialty treatments that take a good amount of time. If there’s only one person qualified to do these treatments and each treatment takes an hour, that means there may only be seven or eight slots available each day. If you don’t claim yours quickly, it could be gone.
Spa managers understand this, which is why many limit the number of people who can make reservations each day. This is one of the reasons why it’s a good idea to book your spa day as early as you can—the date may become unavailable if you wait too long. Once you’ve picked a day, you may also need to select a spa package. Some day spas do things in bundles: you select the package that has the treatments you want, or you select a general package and get to customize it in a few different ways.
Some, however, operate on an a la carte system: you can select any of the different services and treatments. Each one is reserved or booked separately. Sometimes this method is cheaper, especially since you can select only the treatments you want, but sometimes the packages are actually better deals.
For those day spas that serve lunch, you may also have the opportunity to select your meal early. This may be especially important to those who have specific diets or need to avoid certain foods. If you have a food allergy or special requirement, it’s probably best to go ahead and mention this when booking your day just so the manager knows about it in advance.
