Skin Care Following a Facial
4/6/2015

Did you just get an amazing facial from a day spa? If so, your skin probably feels like it’s glowing. Your face is incredibly soft, it looks really healthy, and you may feel and look younger! But you know what’s coming: you’re going to wake up tomorrow and look and feel like your old self. That healthy glow will be gone, and you’ll be waiting for your next facial to feel that great again. But what if you could extend that feeling? Here are a few tips for taking care of your skin following a facial that can do just that.

First of all, remember that your skin is going to be more sensitive now. You will want to be really careful that you don’t use a product on it that causes a breakout. Even products that don’t normally affect you may cause some redness right after you have a facial. So take that into consideration. Also realize that you may have a breakout right after a facial, especially if you don’t take care of your skin.

So what can you do? Be really careful about how you clean your face after you have a facial. Scrubbing it or using a harsh cleanser right after it’s been exfoliated can cause some issues. The facial was a major deep cleaning all on its own, so you can usually skip the scrubbing for a few days after you get one.

Also be sure you’re using a really gentle face wash or other type of cleansing agent. When washing your face, only use your fingers to work the cleaner into your skin—don’t use a washcloth or sponge. They can be scratchy and have a lot of bacteria trapped in them. Also use only lukewarm water, not hot water. Skin using a toner, too, for a few days after having a facial.
