Taking a Wellness Cruise
12/23/2014

Most people who have been on cruises have seen the spas and salons that are on board, and some may even have used them to relax. But there’s a new trend that’s becoming more and more popular among sea-going vacationers: the wellness cruise.
The main idea behind a wellness cruise isn’t to see the sights, go on shore excursions, or pig out at the all you can eat buffet. Instead, it’s to focus on relaxing and getting well while on the ocean. Cruisers visit the on spa, take time to lay out on deck to relax, and even attend different fitness classes and make use of the ship’s gym. Many cruise ships offer medication classes or yoga, which can be immensely helpful. Of course, they can also take some time off the ship for activities on shore, including swimming in the ocean and doing bike tours of different destinations.
The idea behind this type of cruise is to bring your mind and body back into sync. The daily grind can leave a person feeling so overwhelmed that a few days off or a trip to the spa just isn’t enough. It takes a good several days of focusing on relaxing and letting go of stress. That’s why more and more people are taking relaxing wellness cruises.
Some cruise lines are even putting together special wellness cruise packages. Instead of each person creating their own idea of a wellness cruise, these packages offer scheduled activities. Many even bring in wellness and health experts to lead these cruises. They go above and beyond what a person could do on their own. For example, the meals served on these cruises are mostly all-organic. Yoga masters lead classes that teach specific relaxation poses, while guest speakers give lectures on how to deal with stress and how to relax.
