Why You Should Get a Head Massage

Everyone loves getting a nice head massage. It can feel so very relaxing after a long, stressful day. But there’s more to a head massage than that. For those who suffer from headaches and migraines, a head massage can help with the pain. The pressing and even light pulling on the scalp helps to relieve tension and pressure, which sometimes helps with headache pain.

Unfortunately for some, a head massage actually makes their migraines worse, so it’s always best to start out slow if you’re giving a massage to someone.

But many people know that head massages help with pain. However, what few people may know is that a good scalp massage can actually help hair grow in thicker and healthier. That’s because a head massage can help stimulate hair follicles. It does so by helping to increase the flow of blood to the skin and follicles. Increased blood flow helps promote hair growth and can increase the rate at which hair grows. This is perfect for those who want longer hair or feel like their hair is too thin.

To help even more, you can have special oils massaged into your scalp. Note, however, that these oils need to be specifically created for the scalp and hair—do not use other massage oils on the head. If they’re not formulated for use in the hair, they can cause tangles or damage the hair or scalp.

Some oils that can be used in the scalp include peppermint oil, tea tree oil, lemon oil, chamomile oil, castor oil, and almond oil. The oils should be massaged into the scalp and then from the roots to the ends of the hair. Once this has been done a few times, you can either immediately take a show to wash them out or let the oils set for a few hours or even overnight.
